Artist Statment:

How does one explain the feeling of adoption, mourn their unmet mother, and the journey to finding their biological family? All one can hope to do while processing such things is to find beauty, to extract silver lining, and heal. That is what you are looking at.

In all true healing, there is understanding, there is immense sonder. With what I knew of June I tried to put myself in her shoes and write not only from my perspective but hers as well. In many ways, this is the closest I will ever get to her as this practice allowed me to make room for another soul to write through me.

This installation is to serve as a representation of everything that led to this point, her life, my life, the journey of finding my biological family, and of course the life I was given through adoption. This installation at its core is a silver lining
